Following the almost unanimous feedback we have decided to stick with our current venue and find somewhere else to stay overnight. So registration will open at 10am in the Centurion as originally advertised. Just head in to the bar and look for the regitration desk at the far end.
We are working on the place to bed down at the moment and will report back as soon as we can.

Today we have confirmation that we can not use the venue through the night. The venue themselves have been behind the overnight, but the building is part of the station complex and, and it is they are not happy. Unfortunately we can not secure access between us and the rest of the station, if for no other reason that this is our emergency exit.
We now have three options…
- Stay with our current venue until 1am and forget the overnight.
- Stay with our current venue and find somewhere else to stay. This venue is likely to be a scout hall 10 minute drive away, and we will put on a mini bus or taxis.
- Move the entire BarCamp to another venue. We have been offered a backup venue in Sunderland, but we will have to use a different space on the Saturday and Sunday, and will need to swap over at 7am.
We need to make this decision quickly so I thought I would just throw it out there. There are 7 people who said they would only come if it was an overnight. What are your thoughts?

Half the places are now gone, and people continue to signup, but we can not continue to rely on this just happening on it’s own. BarCamp is made by the people attending so we need to spread the word. The first rule about BarCamp is that “You do talk about BarCamp”, and the second is that “You do blog about BarCamp”. If you know someone who would be interested in attending then let them know. Post on Twitter that you are attending. Write a blog post about BarCamp.

We will be based in the conference rooms at the Centurion. Further information is available on our venue page.
A BarCamp is an apologetically different kind of conference and finding a venue can be hard work. After recent set backs we were scratching our heads when we were put in contact with a friend of a friend who understood exactly what we were looking for and has that can do attitude. We would like to thanks all those involved in making this happen.
We still need to work out final details and there may be a venue licencing issue that will need to be overcome before we can be in the building over night, but paperwork issues like this can be fixed with a can do attitude, plus we are still looking at other options. We can not guarantee an overnight at this time, but we fully intend to make this happen if we can.
We also have another overnight venue for a future BarCamp that was not available for the dates required so the future is looking good for BarCamps in the North East.
